The state's newest hospital is up and running, though on a limited basis.
Local doctors run the sparkling new Kearney Regional Medical Center, which is actually owned by a management group.
Interim CEO John Lanning says they are pleased with their perfect score on a state survey, reporting zero deficiencies. He says that's rare for an inspection report.
The hospital is now open for 20 test patients due to their success in the licensing process.
Operating rooms and post op rooms are ready for business. And the hospital sports single occupancy patient rooms, by design.
Lanning says they're planning an expansion by next spring complete with 19 more patient rooms and an emergency room.
As for the Platte Valley Medical building right next door, that'll be done in late January. It will have a physical therapy facility, cafe and plenty of other amenities.
