With the number of child-related poisoning incidents increasing over the holiday season, the Nebraska Regional Poison Center is giving parents some helpful tips to keep their children safe.
They recommend advising guests to keep medications up out of reach of the children. According to Poison Center officials, over 50 percent of the calls that come in involve medications.
Additionally, officials say it is important to use caution when choosing children's holiday gifts. Items that contain disc batteries are a choking hazard and toys that contain magnets are not advisable for small children.
Be sure to clean up immediately after holiday parties as there may be alcohol or cigarette butts within reach of inquisitive children.
