In an effort to rebrand, the Great Platte River Road Archway is shortening its name.
The board of directors for the attraction that spans Interstate 80 just east of the Kearney interchange announced Tuesday that the name has been changed to simply "The Archway", effective immediately.
Archway officials say this new designation will simplify Internet searches, travel guide directories and other promotional materials.
The foundation that runs the attraction says they will be making many changes over the coming months to rebrand the facility. This comes after years of lackluster visitor numbers, resulting in a declaration of bankruptcy.
