Grand Island Man Makes Plea Deal in Incident Involving Passenger that Fell From Vehicle

Posted: Updated:

A Grand Island man accused of driving drunk and causing a passenger to fall out of his door-less Jeep reached a deal with prosecutors and pleaded no contest Wednesday.

Tyler Dalland, 28, was in a Grand Island courtroom Wednesday where he pleaded no contest to second-offense driving under the influence. As part of the plea deal with prosecutors, a felony DUI causing serious bodily injury charge was dropped.

Authorities say Dalland was driving the night of Sept. 8 when his passenger, 55-year-old Donald Fillinger, fell out of the passenger side of the vehicle. Fillinger suffered a broken neck and dislocated shoulder.

Dalland will face sentencing on Jan. 30.
