John Kuehn, an associate biology professor for Hastings College and local vet, announced Thursday his plans to run for District 38's seat in the Unicameral.
"I am excited to announce I will be running to represent the citizens of District 38 in the Nebraska Legislature in Lincoln," said Kuehn.
Kuehn says he is running because he believes in the value of citizen Legislature and community service.
The central Nebraska man says he has learned from growing up on a farm the real meaning of community and the importance of working together.
"The opportunities I've had were the result of the generosity of so many in our communities - and now I want to give back by securing the future for the next generation," said Kuehn in his campaign announcement.
According to Kuehn's campaign website, if elected he will focus on lowering property taxes, school funding, support for small businesses, in addition to issues impacting Nebraska's farmers and ranchers.
District 38 includes a portion of Buffalo County, as well as Phelps, Kearney, Franklin, Webster, Nuckolls, and Clay counties.
