Grand Island Man Convicted of Sending and Receiving Child Porn

Posted: Updated:

A Grand Island man has been found guilty of sending and receiving child pornography, and now faces the possibility of spending at least five years in a federal prison.

According to United State Attorney Deborah Gilg, 57-year-old James Haugh was convicted in U.S. District Court Thursday following a three-day trial.

Federal prosecutors say Haugh received and distributed numerous child pornography videos on his home computer from Jan. 3, 2009 to Dec. 28, 2012.

The Nebraska Attorney General's Office began investigating Haugh after automated software found his IP address was sharing child pornography through the Internet.

Haugh could serve five to 20 years in prison for this conviction with the possibility of a life term of supervision following his release, in addition to a possible $250,000 fine.

U.S. District Court Judge John Gerrard also ordered that all property used in the child pornography sharing be forfeited to the United States.
