Holiday shopping season is wrapping up but stores are still packed with last minute shoppers.
The Conestoga Mall manager and store managers at the Hilltop Mall said this season's sales are doing well.
All of the store employees we spoke with were thrilled with the outcome and the short holiday shopping season, between Thanksgiving and Christmas, hasn't seemed to slow sales down – in fact, it may have helped.
Connie Hoft, the owner of the CR Toys store in the Hilltop Mall said "it's been the best season we've ever had in the history of our store and we've been going for eighteen years and it's just exciting season for us."
Her store brings in shoppers from all across Nebraska; some even drive four to five hours to come to the CR Toys store. This could be because the store offers a unique shopping experience – all the toys in her store have been tested by the employees themselves and employees are quick to join in on the fun, playing with the shoppers.
Stores saw a hike in customers this year and some of this could be attributed to the weather.
Clance Singrey the store manager of Herbergers at the Hilltop mall said, "The weather's been good for us this year... it's really helped... no major storms or nothing like that so yea it's been nice."
Hoft shares in this opinion. She said, "I have a lot of other toy stores locally owned that are across the country and they are really hurting because of how bad some of the weather has been, so we have been very blessed."
Kellie Henderickson, owner of Little Reflection Studio said, "once that cold snap broke we saw more people flooding back in and in the last week... it's just been nutty busy... it's been really fun to see all the people and a lot of people we have never seen before."
It was her first year in charge of taking pictures for Santa. "We've had amazing people come through our store and the number of people we have gotten to meet because of Santa and the happy faces we got to see... it's been amazing and really busy," said Henderickson.
The Conestoga Mall in Grand Island has also been very busy.
"Wall to wall people... lot of shoppers coming out kind a doing those last minute gifts getting their list taking care of," said the mall manager, Tony Schultz.
Sales don't end when Christmas day is over, many of the stores will hold door buster sales and other deals. That means there is still time for procrastinators to cash in on holiday steals.
