Local residents play a large role in community improvement, and the Hayes Center Improvement Committee has had a big hand in area upgrades over the past few years.
This year they hope the money raised will help save lives.
The committee hopes to raise $30,000 this year for a new defibrillator, air cot and backboard for the Hayes Center Fire Department and ambulance crews.
In the past, fundraisers have gathered around $65,000 dollars for local improvements.
"The first fundraiser we did was for new park equipment -- for playground equipment and that kind of thing. And then we helped with our legend hall, and then last year we helped our fair grounds," said committee member Connie Brott.
This year, the committee will be holding a concert to raise the funds for the new equipment.
The Restless Heart Band will be headlining the July 12th concert at the Hayes Center fairgrounds.
Corporate sponsors are also encourages to help.
Sponsors who donate at least $500 will receive their name on the concert flyers, as well as free admission to the annual town banquet on April 9.
