Grand Island's Mayor's Advisory Council Looking for New Members

Grand Island Mayor Jay Vavricek is looking for more people to join the Mayor's Advisory Council for 2014.

The purpose of the council is to discuss different perspectives and opinions on a variety of city-related topics each month for the benefit of city administration.

Recent topics have included the Grand Island Veterans Home, the city's Problem Resolution Team, street projects, as well as drainage and other water related issues, and the Police Department's Community Service Officers.

Grand Island residents interested in being considered as a member need to submit their name, address, and contact information, including phone and email to city hall by 5 p.m. on Friday, January 10.

The Mayor's Advisory Council meets on the third Monday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the community meeting room at Grand Island City Hall, 100 E. First St. 

New members are expected to be announced before the next regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, January 20.
