Pioneer Village Recipient of Anonymous $1 Million Donation Match Offer

Posted: Updated:

Minden's Pioneer Village is receiving some help from an anonymous donor.

The donor has offered to match up to $1 million in unrestricted donations for the museum that touts itself to be one of the largest private collections of Americana, with about 50,000 exhibits in 28 buildings.

With two donations coming in last week for a total of $126,000, Pioneer Village foundation board member Larry Wilcox says they're off to "a good start" for their campaign.

The museum received other good news recently when the Nebraska Supreme Court reversed a 2011 decision by the Nebraska Tax Equalization and Review Commission, allowing Pioneer Village's adjacent motel and campgrounds to be exempt from property taxes.
