U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns has announced the names of 35 students from across the state nominated to possibly attend one of the U.S. service academies.
"I'm thrilled to nominate these high-caliber students to our nation's
service academies," Johanns said. "The nomination process is extremely
competitive, and the students selected this year are some of the best
and brightest our state has to offer."
On Monday, Johanns announced that Jesus Maese of Grand Island has been nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy.
"Jesus exemplifies the leadership skills and
self-discipline necessary to succeed as an officer. I'm confident in his
ability to represent Nebraska and serve our great nation," Johanns shared.
Two students from Kearney were nominated as well. Adam Keating was nominated to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and John Potthof to the U.S. Air Force Academy.
