Nebraska Population Continues to See Moderate Growth
Nebraska continues to see moderate population growth that is just behind the nation's rate of growth, according to new figures from the U.S. Census.
According to those numbers, Nebraska grew about 2.3 percent since the last census in 2010, to an estimated 1,868,516 people in July. In that same period, the United States grew by 2.4 percent.
With these numbers, Nebraska's population ranks 38th nationally.
Jerry Deichert of the University of
Nebraska Omaha's Center for Public Affairs Research says Nebraska is likely continuing a trend of population growth around
Omaha, Lincoln, Grand Island and Kearney, while most other parts of the
state see declines.
