The Kearney Police Department will have extra staff in the community on New Year's Eve to keep drunk drivers off the road.
"You know, watch what you drink if you want to go out and have a good time that is absolutely your right. Just make sure if you do drink, don't drive, be responsible about it and still have a good time," said officer Jared Small.
Police will work with local transportation to make sure drunk drivers stay off the road.
"If we have a subject borderline that we feel fits driving under the influence statute, Kearney Cab will help us on several occasions to get people safely home," explained Small.
Kearney Cab's business goes up 50 percent on New Year's Eve.
However, keeping drunk drivers off the road is not the only thing the police are looking out for.
"Urinating in public, fighting, everything that goes along with the heavy alcohol consumption," added Small.
