Training classes have been scheduled for the producers in Dawson County who need to be certified or recertified to purchase restricted use pesticides.

Three meetings have been scheduled throughout Dawson County. The meeting details follow:

  • Lexington: Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 9:30 a.m. at the Dawson County Extension Office, 1002 Plum Creek Parkway, fairgrounds.
  • Sumner: Thursday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Community Building.
  • Cozad: Thursday, March 6 at 1 p.m. at the Cozad Elks Club, 810 J St.

Extension educator Alan Coor says around 270 producers in Dawson County need to be certified. Producers should check their pesticide applicator certificates, they will want to attend if it has already expired, if it expires in 2014 or if they have never had a card.

The fee for the program is $30 and producers will be billed $25 for the licensing fee following the training.

Producers should contact their local extension office for more information or other options for certification.
