New Gym Owners Use Personal Experience To Help Motivate Others

Posted: Updated:

A Kearney couple uses their weight loss experience to help motivate others starting their journey to health and wellness.

'Body by Steele Fitness and Nutrition' in downtown Kearney is the new kid on the workout circuit.

Owners Kent and Sherry Steele opened the facility after Kent lost 40 pounds through diet and exercise.

Though they're one of many gyms in the area, they say having both a 24–hour gym and nutrition bar will help motivate people to get healthier.

"The greatest part about this is how losing some weight changed my life," said co-owner Kent Steele. "And how Sherry and I want to take that out to other people in the community to share that, to let them be healthier and feel how much better it is just to be in better shape."

New members say adding classes and easy facility access can help them reach whatever goals they're striving to attain.

"I've seen a lot of people enjoy the classes. They're also going to offer Zumba classes, they're doing weight loss challenges," said gym member Leslie Valenzuela. "So that kind of makes you feel like you're not singled out, there's other people that have the same goals as you.

Body by Steele opened in mid–November, and is located in the basement of the Kaufman Center in downtown Kearney where Club Krave used to be.
