Odds in Broncos' favor at Vegas bowling tournaments

(Hastings, Neb.) – The Hastings College Bronco Bowling teams competed well at tournaments in Las Vegas, Nev., prior to the Christmas Break.

"Overall, it was an outstanding performance by the only first year program entered in these prestigious tournaments," said Hastings College Bowling Head Coach Ron Hergott.

Out of 33 teams entered in the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invite on December 18, 2013, the Bronco Women's Bowling team finished 13th, paced by Emily Eckhoff from Denver, Colo., who finished 8thout of 127 bowlers, and Harmonie Trenn from Aurora, Colo., who finished 17th. The Bronco Men's Bowling team, led by Ben Burbine from North Attleboro, Mass., who placed 59th out of 242 bowlers, and Vinny Grine from Berthoud, Colo., who place 62nd, finished 23rd overall.

Against much larger, more established teams entered in the Collegiate Shoot-Out on December 20, 2013, the Bronco Women's Bowling team finished 11th, led once again by an 8th place finish from Eckhoff and a 44th place finish by Trenn. The Bronco men finished 18th overall, beating California State University-Long Beach, Texas A&M, Washington State University and Texas Tech. Philip Cook finished 43rd out of 207 bowlers while Burbine finished 53rd.
