A 32-year-old man from York County is appealing his conviction for the death of his 4-month-old daughter in 2011.

Ryan Kozisek filed the appeal earlier this week along with appeals for his sentencing order and an earlier denial of his motion for a new trial.

Kozisek was sentenced in December to 35 to 50 years in prison after a York County jury found him guilty of child abuse resulting in the death of his daughter Kayley.

Kayley died at an Omaha hospital on Jan. 25, 2011, a day after Kozisek called 911 and said she wasn't breathing.

Kozisek told authorities that his 2-year-old daughter fell off a stepping stool and landed on the baby.

An autopsy showed multiple injuries that resulted in severe hemorrhaging and brain damage.

The injuries were later determined to be the result of abusive head trauma.
