A new Pizza Hut in York is one of only two locations nationwide testing out a new by the slice option.
The slices will cost between $2 and $3 and will take about 3 to 4 minutes to heat up. They'll be made with new recipes as well, keeping in line with thinner pies sold in the Northeast.
The new location will offer the big slices straight out of an old-time brick oven, a selection of craft beers, salads and pastas tossed to order. Customers will order at the counter and employees will deliver the food to the dining room.
The other Pizza Hut location trying out the new restaurant concept is located in Pawtucket, R.I. York's new location will open to the public on Wednesday.
Pizza Hut will be carefully studying sales at the new restaurants as well as interviewing diners about their experience.
The tests reflect how established restaurant chains are scrambling to reinvent themselves to keep pace with a rapidly changing industry.
