Friday marks the beginning of a new project in Saint Paul, as the Howard County Medical Center looks to get a facelift in the year to come.
Remodeling of the Emergency Room entrance, renovations of the existing ER garage, a new state-of-the-art laboratory and updated patient rooms and bathrooms are all on the agenda.
The $1.5 million expansion process has taken some time to come to actually happen -- three years.
"It's always about culmination. We finally approved the plans and have decided on a builder. There were some things we had to accomplish across the street here with the water main project that we needed to accomplish first in conjunction with the city and it always takes time," Howard Country Medical Center CEO Arlan Johnson said about the timeframe.
But now the project is expected to move along rather quickly.
Phase one is expected to be done sometime in March and phase two is set to be done by October.
