Storm Send Gluchowski To Sioux Falls

Posted: Updated:

KEARNEY, Neb. – Tri-City Storm head coach and general manager Jim Hulton has announced an agreement with Sioux Falls to trade defenseman Nolan Gluchowski to the Stampede.

In return, Tri-City will acquire forward Cody Milan, defenseman Daniel Fritz and a 5th round draft pick in the 2014 Phase I Draft.

"We continue to retool our current roster in an attempt to strengthen our club in both the immediate and long term future," said Hulton. "We thank Nolan for his leadership, dedication and work ethic and wish him well in the future."

Gluchowski, who was named the team's captain in early December, was one of the Storm's leaders both on and off the ice. He finishes his career in Tri-City with nine goals and 26 assists in 89 games.

The Wixom, Mich. native is committed to play at St. Lawrence and is expected to begin his freshman year this fall.

Milan has 59 games of USHL experience with Sioux Falls, playing 34 games a season ago and scoring four goals and six assists. Playing through injuries this season, the White Lake, Mich. native has just one goal and one assist in 25 games.

The forward, who is committed to play collegiately at Michigan State, is a former first round pick (9th overall) in the 2012 USHL Futures Draft and is expected to return to the Storm for the 2014-15 season.

Fritz has played in 26 games this season with Sioux Falls, registering two assists. The Harwood, Md. native was selected by the Stampede in the fifth round (74th overall) in the 2013 Phase II Draft.

Before Sioux Falls, Fritz played at Canterbury High School in Connecticut where he notched 26 points in 27 games on three goals and 23 assists.

"We are excited to add Daniel and Cody to our core group as we continue to push for a playoff spot," Hulton said.

In another unrelated deal, the Storm also acquired future goaltender Chase Perry, property of the Stampede in exchange for affiliate defenseman Travis Brown.

Perry is currently playing for the Wenatchee Wild of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). He was most recently ranked No. 4 on the NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings for North American goaltenders.

Tri-City hosts Des Moines this weekend for a series at the Viaero Event Center. Friday night's game begins at 7:30 p.m., while Saturday's contest gets underway at 7:05.
