The city of Grand Island has declared a snow emergency for Tuesday evening into Wednesday.
The alert will start at 6 p.m. Tuesday and run through noon on Wednesday. During that time city officials ask that vehicles be moved from the city's snow emergency routes, which are marked with white and blue signs. A list of affected streets can also be found on the city's website.
Grand Island Police will be checking the routes for illegally parked vehicles -- which could be towed.
The city is also reminding residents that snow plows may push snow onto sidewalks and driveways, so they advise waiting until plows have gone through to clear those areas.
