Authorities have released the name of two people killed in an accident near Redington Tuesday afternoon, where the weather was believed to be a factor in the crash.
The Nebraska State Patrol says the driver of a SUV, 64-year-old Bruce Evertson, of Kimball, and his passenger, 56-yera-old Robin Lapaseotes, of Bridgeport, were killed when a semitrailer collided head-on with their SUV.
The patrol says the crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 88 west of Redington. Authorities say both vehicles caught on fire after the westbound semi hit the eastbound SUV.
The driver of the semi, 56-year-old Dennis Dobrinski, of Bridgeport, was taken to a Scottsbluff hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash closed a portion of Highway 88 from Bridgeport to the Highway 71 Junction for several hours. Authorities believe weather was a factor in the crash.
