Many high school girls' dream is to dress to impress as they walk into their prom, but for some, that perfect gown can be a little pricey.
The Hastings YWCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters are teaming up this week to help ease the burden of buying that high cost gown.
It's 'Gowns for Good', selling gently used consigned and donated dresses, shoes, and purses for those wanting to look their best for any occasion.
"I think it's, like I said, for girls who maybe don't have the money to buy a really expensive dress," said shopper Chloe Ferrone. "It's good for them, that way they have options, they can still go to prom or whatever event they're shopping for and it's really cool."
Project organizers say when shoppers find that perfect dress, it makes all the difference.
"I think it's really fun to see the confidence in the girls. They go and try on all these different styles and sizes," said Hastings YWCA's Carissa Uhrmacher. "And you can't tell what it's going to look like until they try it on, they come out, see themselves in the mirror here, it's just so neat to see them find the perfect dress."
The 'Gowns For Good' sale continues Sunday at the Hastings YWCA from noon until five, with proceeds being split between Big Brothers Big Sisters and YWCA.
