Fremont Voters Reconsidering 2010 Immigration Law

Posted: Updated:

Fremont voters are getting an opportunity Tuesday to keep or get rid of a city ordinance that aims to keep immigrants from renting a home in Fremont if they don't have legal permission to be in the U.S.

Critics say the restrictions are ineffective and the ordinance is costing the city a lot of money. Meanwhile, others point more to the damage the law is doing to the city's reputation.

Supporters say there is no reason not to enforce the law and believe Fremont must take a stand against illegal immigration.

Lifelong resident Brad Yerger says he sees no reason to re-vote on an issue that won 57 percent voter support in 2010.

Dodge County officials say voting will end at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
