A controversial bill in Kansas could allow teachers, caregivers and parents to spank children hard enough to leave marks.
Current Kansas law allows spanking as long as it doesn't leave marks. This new bill would allow up to ten strikes of the hand even if the spanking left the child with redness or bruising.
The bill would also let parents give permission to others to spank their children.
Hitting a child with a fist, in the head or body, or with a belt or rod would still be banned under this new bill.
