GIPD Asking Public to be on High Alert Following Rash of Vehicle Vandalism

Posted: Updated:

The Grand Island Police Department is asking for the public's help to find the individuals responsible for the recent rash of busted out car windows.

The department says that from Feb. 13 to 15, 15 criminal mischief reports were made involving car windows. Then from Feb. 20 to 21, and additional 14 incidents were reported. Authorities say most of these incidents took place in the north-central and northwest regions of Grand Island.

Police say they aren't sure exactly what is being used to break the windows of these vehicles, but they have found rocks at some of the scenes.

GIPD is asking the public to immediately report anything that looks suspicious. Additionally, authorities suggest getting a license plate number when possible, or at least a description of the vehicle as well as the direction it left in.
