Two people were arrested near North Platte Friday after a state trooper found 74 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle.
The Nebraska State Patrol says 36-year-old Jared Case, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and 30-year-old Izula Maximillen, of Arcata, Calif., were arrested for marijuana possession and child endangerment. A two-year-old traveling with the pair was placed in protective custody.
A trooper stopped the minivan being driven by Case around 3:30 p.m. Friday near the North Platte exit off Interstate 80 for speeding and not staying in the lane.
The patrol says a drug dog taken to the scene
alerted to the presence of drugs. The troopers say they found
the pot in an external luggage carrier on top of the minivan.
The duo was taken to the Lincoln County Detention Center on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and child endangerment.
