Teen Reaches Plea Deal in North Platte Youth Center Stabbing

Posted: Updated:

A 16-year-old Hastings boy accused in the stabbings of two employees at the Nebraska Youth Center in North Platte last July has reached a deal with prosecutors.

Jordan Baker pleaded no contest to charges of felony assault and use of a deadly weapon on Monday after prosecutors reduced the charges from attempted first-degree murder.

Prosecutors say Baker and 18-year-old Keenan Lambert, of Miller, stabbed Diana Johns and Robin Schneider on July 8, stole an employee's vehicle and fled. They were captured later that day in Dawson County.

Both employees were hospitalized and have since recovered.

Sentencing for Baker has been set for April 28.

Lambert has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, as well as use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, escape and theft. His trial is scheduled to begin on March 11.
