Bill Intended to Keep Elderly in Own Homes Under Debate

Posted: Updated:

Lawmakers have begun debate on a bill that would help boost the number of elderly people able to live in their own home.

Senators failed to reach a vote on the measure during discussion on Tuesday but are expected to resume debate on Wednesday.

The measure would direct the state to spend $8.5 million of its own money on services intended to help the elderly. This would to qualify the state for a federal grant of an additional $36 million which would be used to fund existing services like adult day care or respite services.
