But, they say without Saturday's chili cook-off, that wouldn't be possible.
Forty-four chefs filled Grand Island's Pinnacle Bank Exhibition Center for the 26th annual fundraiser.
Organizers were worried the cold weather that shut down the nearby horse races would keep the crowds away too, but they said attendance was on track with previous years.
That's good news since this is the only fundraiser for the Central Plains Red Cross.
"This event does help the American Red Cross go out into the community and help others," said Karla Schweiger-Arnold, major gifts officer for the Central Plains chapter.
NTV's own Steve White was a judge. He and his fellow judges picked from several award categories, including "best all-around chili", "best display", and "best apron".
