A local shelter has found a home for a wolf dog they took in a few months ago.
Kona will soon be headed to a California rescue.
The wolf hybrid was relinquished to the Central Nebraska Humane Society in January.
It's uncertain when Kona will leave because of the permits required to transport wolf hybrids across state lines.
"We know how to operate when dogs and cats are transferring over state lines. This is a whole different ball game," said Laurie Dethloff, CNHS executive director.
The shelter had Kona tested to see what percentage of wolf he is.
"We have received a DNA test to help us categorize him, which then will let us be able to transfer him out of Nebraska and into California a lot easier," said Dethloff.
