Pancake Feed Helps Raise Money For 4-H Shooting Sports Program

Posted: Updated:

4–H has been known for their focus on agriculture in the past, but Saturday, different focus, as officials attempt to show how their program helps children.

The Buffalo County 4–H shooting sports program is popular in the area, with many kids not able to practice shooting on family farms.

Leaders say, while some may not be comfortable associating guns with children, having this program teaches kids mental discipline and concentration and they say their record speaks for itself.

"We stress safety, and when we have 20 kids on the line with a gun in their hands and there's never been any injury accidents or anything that's happened," said shooting sports coordinator Billy Rayburn. "That says a lot about how safety conscious and what we put into these kids."

Saturday's pancake feed and free will donation brought in about $1,300 which will help fund the program.
