This week we honor a U.S.S.
Arizona survivor, Donald Stratton of Colorado Springs.
He is one of only
four remaining survivors of the U.S.S. Arizona. After the ship was hit he had
to cross a 75 foot rope that was 40 feet in the air burning 65 percent of his
body in the process.
It took him over a year
to recover and through it all his desire to serve his country remained intact.
He re-enlisted and served two more years in the pacific.
great niece Susan Medcalf of Juniata sent in the nomination. She said "he
is one of the most courageous men I have met.
He is why we have the freedom we have today, no doubt."
