One of the teens accused of stabbing two employees of the Nebraska Youth Center in North Platte has reached a deal with prosecutors just one day before his trial was set to begin.

Keenan Lambert, 18, pleaded no contest on Monday to felony assault and use of a deadly weapon. Prosecutors reduced the original charge of attempted murder in return for Lambert's pleas.

Prosecutors say Lambert and 16-year-old Jordan Baker stabbed Diana Johns and Robin Schneider on July 8, stole an employee's vehicle and fled. They were captured later that day in Dawson County.

Both employees had to be treated at the hospital following the incident.

Last month Baker pleaded no contest to the same charges as Lambert in a deal with prosecutors. Both are scheduled to be sentenced on April 28.
