The Downtown Improvement Board in Kearney is taking proposals from downtown businesses interested in restoring their store fronts.
The board has $10,000 in grant funding to be used in the historic restoration and preservation of downtown buildings. Property owners can request up to $10,000 to remove signage, awnings or lighting, or to generally restore the front facade.
The program has been around for seven years and has funded 14 projects downtown, costing about $260,000.
The board says project proposals must be restricted to the front facade and are subject to design guidelines.
Those with questions regarding the guidelines or application process can contact Suzanne Brodine at 308.233.3222. Applications are available at City Hall.
Winning projects will be announced by May 7 and must be completed by May 31, 2015.
