Two fires kept Hastings Ruralfirefighters on the run Saturday.

Officials said one started late in theafternoon southeast of Hastings in part of the old Navy ammunition depot.

Firefighters said a man was burningpaper on a loading dock of an abandoned building and thought the fire was out.

Around 100 acres of burning grass andunused buildings kept crews from Trumbull, Glenvil, and Hastings on scene forhours.

"With the humidity being in theteens it's extremely hazardous and it's almost, because of the fire load of theweeds and the trees, it's just explosive so it's a highly dangerous situation,"said Hastings Rural Fire Chief Bob Hansen.

Hansen said the person responsiblewill be cited for burning without a permit and on a red flag day.

Hastings Rural fought another blazenear Ayr Saturday morning.
