Wyoming Teen Pleads Not Guilty in Guard's Strangulation Death

Posted: Updated:

A Wyoming teen has pleaded not guilty in the death of a Scotts Bluff County jail guard in February.

Dylan Cardeilhac, 15, of Torrington, Wyo., entered his plea Monday in Scotts Bluff County District Court.

Authorities say Cardeilhac lured 24-year-old Amanda Baker into his cell on Feb. 14 and proceeded to strangle her. Baker died a few days following the attack after doctors had declared her brain dead.

Authorities say another inmate, 16-year-old Guy Eagle Elk, of Lisco, told Cardeilhac how to choke the guard. Eagle Elk has pleaded not guilty to aiding and abetting the assault and is scheduled for trial in July.

Both boys are charged as adults.
