Severe Weather Awareness: Wednesday Test Tornado Drill Timeline

As part of Severe Weather Awareness Weekin Nebraska the National Weather Service will run Tornado Drills acrossthe state on Wednesday.

This is a good opportunity to practiceand prepare your emergency plan and treat it like a real severe weatheremergency. It is important to note that the National Weather Service will use the actual TOR EAS code as if it was areal Tornado Warning.

The drills will be staggered throughout the morning between 10 and 11 a.m. The timeline for Wednesday'sdrills are listed below in CDT:

10:00 a.m. - The Storm Prediction Centerissues a Test Tornado Watch for all counties in Iowa and Nebraska.  Thetest message will be tone alerted and sent through the Emergency Alert Systemusing the TOA code. The watch will be valid for one hour.

10:10 a.m. - WFO Omaha  and WFOSioux Falls issues a TEST Tornado Warnings for their Nebraska Counties and IowaCounties valid for 20 minutes.

10:15 a.m. - WFO Des Moines and WFOQuad Cities issue a TEST Tornado Warning for their Iowa Counties valid for 20minutes.

10:20 a.m. -  WFO Hastings issues a TEST Tornado Warning fortheir Nebraska Counties valid for 20 minutes. WFO La Crosse issues a TESTTornado Warning for their Iowa Counties valid for 20 minutes.

10:30 a.m. - WFO Cheyenne issues aTEST tornado warning for their Nebraska Counties valid for 20minutes.  WFO Omaha and WFO SiouxFalls issues a Severe Weather Statement canceling the test tornado warnings.

10:35 a.m. - WFO North Platte issues aTEST Tornado Warning for their Nebraska Counties valid for 20 minutes. WFOs DesMoines and Quad Cities issue a Severe Weather Statement canceling their testtornado warnings.

10:40 a.m. - WFO Goodland issues aTEST Tornado Warning for their Nebraska Counties valid  for 20 minutes. WFO Hastings and WFO La Crosse issue Severe Weather Statements cancelingtheir tornado warnings.

10:50 a.m. - WFO Cheyenne issues aSevere Weather Statement canceling their tornado warning.

10:55 a.m. - WFO North Platte issues aSevere Weather Statement canceling their tornado warning.

11:00 a.m. - WFO Goodland issues aSevere Weather Statement canceling their tornado warning.  The testtornado watch expires for all of Nebraska and Iowa.
