Former Midland University Athletic Director Gets Probation in Student Sex Case

Former Midland University athletic director Jason Dannelly was sentenced to a year of probation Monday after pleading no contest to reduced charges in February.

Dannelly, of Omaha, had been accused of soliciting sex from multiple students and threatening one.

He was initially charged with felony pandering and terroristic threats as well as two misdemeanor solicitation counts, but charges were reduced to two misdemeanor counts of attempted solicitation in exchange for his pleas.

The 34–year–old was Midland University's athletic directorfrom August 2011 until his dismissal in December 2012. Prior to that, he was a sports broadcaster and coach in Grand Island.

Dannelly faces six months in jail if he violates the termsof his probation.
