An 18-year-old Shelton man was arrested on a warrant over the weekend after officers pulled the man out of a burning tent at a Panhandle lake.
Scotts Bluff County deputies were sent to Big Lake Alice on Saturday after a woman called authorities concerned about the well-being of Mark Vakoc, whom she said had been living in a tent at the lake.
Deputies were searching for Vakoc when the noticed the fiery tent. They found Vakoc trapped inside a burning sleeping bag in the tent. They were able to safely pull him out. He was not injured.
Following the rescue, deputies arrested Vakoc on a Hall County warrant for an alleged shoplifting incident from last year.
