Business, Community Leaders Learn to Communicate During a Crisis

Posted: Updated:

Business and community leaders are learning how to get their message to you in a crisis.

More than 50 people from McCook to Omaha attended the course Tuesday in Grand Island.

The instructor said these Nebraskans need to have plans and procedures in place now so they're prepared in an emergency.

"The key to crisis communication is knowing that you're protecting the health and safety of the residents that live in your community as well as the environment; so those are critical messages to get out in the first few minutes of a crisis," said Ron Edmond, ORAU senior technical specialist and group manager.

Edmond said these lessons are important for people in almost any industry.

Everyone from police to mall staff attended Tuesday's course.
