Update: Police Say Hastings Stabbing Report 'Unfounded'

Posted: Updated:

Police believe a reported stabbing in Hastings is unfounded.

The stabbing was reported on Wednesday by 22–year–old Jeremiah Shurigar. According to police, Shurigar said he was stabbed after attempting to assist a woman he thought was being accosted on the 2200 block of W. Fifth St.

He told police the suspect drove away in what he thought was a 2003 or 2004 Ford Mustang.

Shurigar was treated and released from Mary Lanning Hospital for his injuries.

Further investigation by police led them to believe that the report was unfounded. The case has been referred to the Adams County Attorney with the request that Shurigar be charged with false reporting.
