A new event hopes to teach your kids important lessons to stay safe.
From water sports to ATV safety, kids and parents learned about preventing injuries at Saturday's Safe Kids Day in Kearney.
It's the first year for the event.
Organizers say injuries increase in the summer months, so teaching fun ways to be safe is an important tool.
"It's probably one of the best outreach tools we have in educating people about safety," said Safe Kids Platte Valley coordinator Karen Triplett. "And it's also good to make the community aware of the resources and the programs and opportunities there are for families, in particular children."
The event included information from the Nebraska Safety Center, Safe Kids Platte Valley, Good Samaritan Therapy Animals. It's expected to be an annual event.
