Grand Island Senior High is pleased to announce that Joey Morrison will be the new head wrestling coach for the Islanders. Morrison recently completed his fourth season as the head coach of the Lexington Minutemen.
Coach Morrison is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Kearney. He was an NCAA Division II All-American, and was a team captain who helped the Lopers to the 2008 National Championship. Morrison also received the Dean's Academic Excellence Award in 2010 while at UNK.
He was a part of three Class A state championship teams at Lincoln East High School, and was a four-time state medalist himself. He won the 2004 state title at 135 lbs.
Coach Morrison: "I am excited and humbled to become a part of one of the premier athletic programs in the state. I look forward to contributing to the academic and athletic success at Grand Island Senior High."

He did outstanding work at Lexington--best of all, he does things the right way in all facets. I know he'll do great things at Senior High. I look very much forward to working with him."
