G.I. Tradition Draws People From 30 States

Posted: Updated:
A 53-year tradition drew people from 30 states to central Nebraska this weekend.

The AKC All Breed Dog Show, Obedience and Rally Trials kicked off Saturday in Grand Island.

More than 90 breeds were represented in the quest to become best in show.

The show's chairperson said, although it's a small show, it attracts quality dogs from across the country. She said that's good for G.I.

"It means a good income for the city. Dog people have to eat. Dog people need a place to stay. Dog people love to shop just like anybody else so it brings in a good amount of revenue for the city," said Dee Hinkle, show chairperson.

The trials continue Sunday.

Hinkle said the Grand Island Kennel Club, who hosts the event, stays active all year long by giving classes and working with local school and 4-H children.
