Hastings Boy Turns Himself in After Escaping Custody

Posted: Updated:
A 17 year old who escaped from police has turned himself in.

Zachary Vaught was arrested on warrant charges for violating probation, and was being moved from a police car to the Adams County Jail Thursday evening when he managed to get away.

Police say he was handcuffed and not wearing shoes.

Hastings Police Chief Pete Kortum says Vaught turned himself in to officers just after midnight early Sunday morning.  He was taken to the Adams County Jail.

Kortum did not say if Vaught faces new charges for his escape.
