Grand Island Road Construction Set to Begin Monday
The public works department for the city of Grand Island says they will begin work on a resurfacing project on Monday, April 28.
The project will include road construction at the following locations:
Blaine Street – Garland Street to the Beltline Trail
First Street – Walnut Street to Sycamore Street
North Road – 13th Street to State Street
Independence Avenue – Capital Avenue to Nebraska Highway 2
Broadwell Avenue – Anna Street to State Street
City officials say the work on First Street from Walnut to Sycamore streets will limit access to the entrances of City Hall, as well as parking. The work on First Street is expected to last approximately three weeks.
Public access to the main entrance of City Hall will be from Pine Street from the north. The utility payment drop box will remain open but access will be limited from Sycamore Street from the north.
Due to this limited accessibility, residents are encouraged to mail utility bills to City Hall or pay online at www.grand-island.com/utilitybillpay. Residents also can drop utility payments off at any of the following Grand Island bank locations: Great Western, Five Points, Union, and Equitable.
The resurfacing project is being funded by the Nebraska Department of Roads Surface Transportation Program and the Federal Highway Administration.
