What was going on in a Hastings home, where a four-year-old boy was shot to death, allegedly by his nine-year-old brother?
NTV has obtained court records, that indicate the family of the boys involved in a deadly shooting had been warned of the potential danger.
Craig Pecor has filed for divorce from Amanda Pecor. They are the parents of a four-year-old Beau Pecor. He died April 18, following a shooting at his home.
Craig Pecor filed for divorce five days after the incident. He and his wife have apparently been separated for some time.
The court documents say the father fears for the safety of a third child in the home.
The affidavit also says as many as seven firearms and ammunition were reportedly in the home where the shooting allegedly occurred. According to the father, the home was "filthy".
Craig Pecor's estranged wife's boyfriend has also had several protection orders filed against him in the last few years.
Adams County Attorney Donna Fegler Daiss previously told NTV the older boy was taken into custody following an investigation into the death.
A juvenile court petition for manslaughter was filed Thursday afternoon. The nine-year-old is currently in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Police were sent to 907 N. Saunders around 8:15 a.m. Friday, April 18.
Four-year-old Beau Pecor, had sustained a gunshot wound from a rifle at his home.The boy was taken to Mary Lanning Healthcare, and Police Chief Pete Kortum said the child was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The county attorney believes the shooting was not accidental.
Authorities say the rifle is owned by the boyfriend of Beau's mother. Family members were home at the time of the shooting. Neither adult has been charged.
