Overnight Collision in Wood River Sends Two to the Hospital

Posted: Updated:
Two people were taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Grand Island early Monday morning following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 30 in Wood River.

According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office, 19-year-old Corey Lavendar of Grand Island and 22-year-old Taylor Cisneros of Kearney were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following an accident near the intersection of Hwy 30 and 11th Street a little after 1 a.m. Monday.

Authorities say the 2000 Dodge Neon being driven by Lavendar was heading east on Hwy 30 when the 2004 Chevy pickup driven by Cisneros drifted from the westbound lane and struck the car head on. Cisneros told authorities he had fallen asleep.

No charges have been filed at this time but the incident remains under investigation. Authorities say it does not appear alcohol was a factor in the crash.
