Wednesday, April 30 is National Walk at Lunch Day. Organizations have the opportunity Tuesday to register walkers and for each organization that does so, $20 will be given to the Nebraska Game & Parks Foundation. The donations are used to develop and improve hiking and biking trails.  Organizations can learn more or register at nebraskablue.com


An elk tag will be auctioned off Friday, May 2 at the Nebraska Big Game Society Banquet to be held at Lincoln’s Wilderness Ridge Golf club.  Only Nebraska residents are eligible for the tag.  For tickets, or details on how to bid for those who can’t attend, call Jon at 402-430-9191 or email NBGS11@gmail.com.

The Great Park Pursuit begins it’s seventh year Thursday.  Register for free and see how many of the 20 selected parks you can visit this spring and summer. Learn more, or register at negpp.org.

On Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4, Mahoney State Park at I-80 exit 426 is hosting a wine festival. The event will feature Nebraska wines, food pairings, art, jewelry, music. For ticket and other information, go to toastnebraska.com.

Game and Parks and Nebraska 4-H has sign-ups for several kids camps to take place across Nebraska. The camps allow youth to gain an introduction to a variety of outdoor skills and pursuits. Find more at outdoornebraska.org, once there click on the education tab then look for outdoor skills camps.

Then on Saturday, May 10 the Fort Kearny Outdoor Expo will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring dozens of hands on activities. The event is free but does require a park pass.
